Winter Arrives in Haven Plaza

The holiday season kicked off at CUIMC with Winter Haven. On December 1st, students, faculty, staff and community members gathered in Haven Plaza to enjoy hot chocolate, donuts, and potato latkes. At 5pm the lights came on to celebrate the lighting of Haven Plaza as a community, just in time to welcome the Holiday Season.  

Local Chabad Rabbi Yudi Shmotkin provided a menorah for the occasion and former Dean Dr. Herb Pardes led the crowd in the blessings. After the blesings, New York City Councilmember, and soon to be Manhattan Borough President ,Mark Levine lit the candles. Interim Dean Anil Rustgi welcomed attendees to the plaza while Councilmember Levine taught the crowd how to say Happy Holidays in Hebrew - Hag Sameach.
