Welcome to Haven Plaza!

With approximately 60,000 square feet of open, car-free space, Haven Plaza has become a local landmark for the entire community to enjoy. Created as part of the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) Plaza Program, the Plaza welcomes community members to come enjoy the outdoors in Washington Heights.

Haven Plaza, located at 168th Street and Haven Avenue, is open to public and available for a wide range of public programming, activities, and events or just the place to go to enjoy the sights and sounds of the neighborhood.

If you are a community-based organization looking to use the plaza for an event, you may submit a permit application to the NYC Street Activities Permit Office

Columbia University Irving Medical Center affiliates may request to use Haven Plaza by submitting a request form. For more information or assistance with planning your event, please contact us: 212-305-8060 or acp@cumc.columbia.edu.

Seniors AIM High

Last summer, in partnership with the Armory Foundation, CUIMC, and NewYork-Presbyterian, senior citizens from Seniors AIM High initiative could be found exercising their bodies and minds in Haven Plaza. Starting with a fun fitness session and ending with a conversation with a Columbia physician about various relevant health topics, these seniors from surrounding neighborhoods are committing to a healthier lifestyle.
